Welcome to the Caboose.
A unique and romantic ocean front escape with stunning views, quiet & private
beaches, and heritage charm on Galiano Island, BC.
Relax in style aboard our authentically renovated 1913 Canadian Pacific Railway
Caboose.
The caboose found its way to
Galiano Island from the Mainland in 1973. She was originally based in Edmonton and
retired to the Coquitlam yards in the early 70's, where she was lovingly restored
and renovated into a cottage and barged to the sunny
tip of MaryAnn Point, Galiano Island, BC.
The Caboose faces across
Active Pass to the Mayne Island Lighthouse where the morning sunrise breaks its day.
Wander down to the oceanside to beach comb, catch the morning sun or gaze upon the
celestial nights. Conveniently located 2.4km from the Ferry terminal, 1.6km to Bluffs Park,
2.2km to Bellhouse Park and 4.5km to the pub, corner store & market.
Custom rock work and cedar decking extend from the railroad car.
Enjoy a sunny breakfast on the deck overlooking a grassy slope down to the waterfront.
Watch Bald Eagles and Great Blue Herons swooping to the water to catch fish, see our local Killer whales leap
out of the ocean as they pass by and get to know our resident otters, seals and other marine life.
With all the comforts of home the Caboose offers a queen size loft with panoramic
views, a kitchen with fridge, 2-burner stovetop,f microwave, coffee maker, outdoor gas BBQ and all utensils.
Relax on the couch, or sit at the diningroom table and watch the fishing boats, tugs,
ferries and yachts pass by daily.
The single downstairs bed is a great place to put your feet up with a good book or listen
to music on the cd/cassette player.
Snuggle up to the warmth of
this classic Vermont Castings woodstove and watch the flames dance.
Always plenty of firewood stacked in the nearby woodshed.
The caboose has a three piece bath with a flush toilet,
shower and wash basin. Our outdoor bathtub is inviting and has a fantastic view of the ocean.
The loft bedroom is a wonderful hideaway and has magnificent ocean views,
particularly at sunrise and moonrise. Relax in peace and beauty in this one of a kind vacation spot.
Enjoy the quiet beaches of this
beautifully forested 5-acre waterfront property. This point of land is surrounded by beaches on all sides: private sandy/pebbly
cove for swimming and sandstone sloped caves and tide pools to explore at low tide.
Galiano lies between Vancouver and Vancouver Island on the west coast of Canada.
Two to three ferries run each day from Vancouver (Tsawassen terminal) on a 50 minute journey, and
several runs from Vancouver Island ( Swartz Bay terminal near Victoria) approx. a 90 minute journey.
Beautiful beaches, ridges, and rich forest cover the island (2-6 km wide & 26 km long).
Come enjoy our long hot summers in this rain shadow climate ( 25% less rain than Vancouver).

Directions
From the ferry terminal at Sturdies Bay, travel straight ahead through
the business area and then turn left on Burrill Road. Follow Burrill for
about 2km until it bends sharply to the right and goes uphill.
Here look out for Mary Ann Road and turn left onto it. The Caboose is the
first driveway on your left off Mary Ann. If we are not there yet to
greet you, make yourselves at home.
