The two bedroom house &
guest annex (cottage)
sit on five secluded acres on Galiano Island, part of the
Southern Gulf Islands on the West coast of British Columbia, Canada. View the
wild garden, fields, orchard & 2 ponds. Let the peace of Galiano Island
seep into your bones while the children roam freely on safe, even terrain. Close
proximity to Galiano Island's Montague Harbour Provincial Marine park &
its white crushed shell beaches is an extra bonus. The easy 50 minute ferry ride from
the Vancouver mainland to Galiano Island is just long enough to prepare you
for a slower pace of life. Alternatively, take the
Gulf Island ferry
from Victoria on Vancouver Island to Galiano Island. Chances
are you'll be leaving bad weather behind as Galiano Island sits in a rain shadow
- 40 % less rain than on the mainland!
A country lane meanders onto the
5-acre, private hobby farm on Galiano Island. The
Main House
sleeps 4-6 & is finished in the Scandinavian style with wood
& ceramic tile floors throughout. French doors open up to the big, covered
porch, facing Southwest overlooking the fields & wild garden (no not a neighbour
in sight!). It is fully furnished with wicker & teak furniture as well as
an antique bed full of pillows with an exotic mosquito canopy.
This Galiano Island property lends
itself especially well to sharing your holiday with your extended family and/or
friends because of the convenience of the separate
guest Annex
. It sleeps 3 people: one single bed & one queen-size bed in one
big, spacious & calm bedroom. Add the 2 piece bathroom & you have the
perfect, private Galiano Island hideout.
Enjoy waking up in the mornings,
ambling barefoot out into the country garden. Humming birds whirr around like
mini helicopters. Only the dragon-flies can compete with their colourful plumes.
River otters have been known to gallivant across the garden, into the pond,
before they disappear into the fields of Galiano Island.
The bright, spacious interior is
full of Ann's collection of artisan objects & candle stick holders &
is furnished with simple antiques & rag rugs to give it a calm, eclectic
atmosphere.
This sun drenched hobby farm with
its open fields and peaceful surroundings beckons the whole family to
go outside and explore. Check out the swing behind the sheep shed.
Admire the constellations from the hammock in the Apple orchard.
The day bed (the 'cozy bed'
according to
my son) on the covered porch is a choice spot for sneaking an afternoon
snooze or to snuggle up with a good book. Catching frogs in the pond is another
favourite pastime. The lawn is great for playing games on & there are baseball
mitts and a bat on the porch as well as Bocce & Badminton.
The orchard is full of fruit if you are here in August & September.
